Many good points there Louis. I think the thing that does it for me is the non-separation between politics, the law and religion.

Once there is a hard line Islamic regime it is virtually impossible for the people that live within it to get rid of it if they so wish.

Therefore there is no real democracy. I am not an Islamic scholar but I have never heard of anybody extolling the democratic virtues of the religion.

Here if we dont like the regime we have the chance to oust it. Not available in Iran I would suggest.

"As soon as [the British academics boycott of Israel] was reported, I helped to draft a simple petition in which signatories agreed to regard themselves as honorary Israeli academics for purposes of any boycott and "decline to participate in any activity from which Israeli academics are excluded."

"Working with Prof. Steven Weinberg, a Nobel laureate in physics, and Ed Beck, the president of Scholars For Peace in the Middle East, we circulated the petition. I expected to gather several hundred signatures.

"To my surprise, we have secured nearly 6,000 signatures, including those of 20 Nobel Prize winners, 14 university presidents as well as several heads of academic and professional societies. Three university presidents -- Lee Bollinger of Columbia, Robert Birgeneau of Berkeley and John Sexton of New York University -- have issued public statements declaring that if Israeli universities are boycotted, their American universities should be boycotted as well. Thank you LR, for your overview of the Taliban. It amounts to a disgusting expose of just one particular leg of the scourge of Islam.
The scariest part of your post is the title, "UK the Future".
In the text you mentioned the spread of Islamic intolerance, barbarism, cruelty, war and the total apartheid treatment of women, in Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and most Islamic countries, but you do not list the UK.
Presumably you are implying, in the title, that the UK is also under threat from the spread of these loathsome medieval beliefs, which should have died out with the flat-earth nutters.
Unfortunately you are a little late! Islam has already spread it's sickening tentacles deep into our beloved country, courtesy of our puny politicians and the hug-a-muslim brigade.
We are already doomed!

Society is not complicit (I take it you read the Guardian). The complicit people are those who scream PC and force the police to defend themselves at every step when dealing with ethnic minorities. This means the police have to be very careful otherwise they are castigated as Islamaphobes & racists. However MOST complicit is any person, religion, culture or organisation that supports the dehumanisation of women. This means they have no rights and terrible things can be done to them.
In any war or conflict you have to dehumanise your foes before you can commit atrocities, this is why civil wars are usually more brutal. Islam in its Islamist cultural form dehumanises women and makes them virtual slaves with few rights and minimal independence. Once this is done then honour killings, forced marriage etc is acceptable. We do not say everyone in Europe is complicit in the Nazis murder of Jews, gypsies, homosexuals, slavs etc so why are we complicit in Muslims bad practice?.
I am not complicit; I condemn it and think that anyone who settles in this overcrowded country must accept basic human rights including equality for women, gays, other religionist’s atheists and agnostics. I am fed up of excuses for appalling behavior just because it is carried out by Muslims.
NB the head of the MCB said the Head Imam of Australia was 'A great man' despite his justification of the rape of Australian women by some Muslim fanatics. The Imam said they (the women) brought it on themselves because they should have been at home and dressed conservatively and likened it to dogs stealing meat that was left out i.e. it was the owner of the meats fault and not the dogs who could not resist the temptation.
NB The bomb plot against the Ministry of Sound was ok in Islamist terms because they harmed 'Loose Women'.
In Saudi Arabia dozens of girls were burned to death in a school fire because the guard would not open the gate to let them out because they were not dressed properly (fact).
In Iran homosexuals are regularly killed and a 16 year old girl was hanged for un Islamic Morality crimes.

Please do not tell me or the 97% of non Muslims in the UK that we are complicit in these events

I am not a muslim, but I believe that the reason she was killed was not necessarily the fact she was a woman, although no doubt they were especially cruel to her because she was [no doubt religion plays a prominent role in shaping this view]. I suspect mothers participate and are complicit because they have been culturally brainwashed since they were small children- to accept their position in a very strict code of living.

From what I have read, the reason for her death had more to do with the fact that she wanted to love someone who was not deemed to be of suitable class.

Like you, what I found especially disturbing in the Mamood case was the fact that she has pre-empted the fact it was going to happen. She recorded her fears on her boyfriend's
phone, all of the evidence was there. Whilst the community closed rank, it has been argued in some quarters that the police backed off because they didn't want the matter to become a racial accusation.

If that is the case, then society as a whole was complicit, because we have taught ourselves that there are social limitations to right and wrong.

Unfortunately it often takes a tragedy to see it.

I have tried on a couple of occassions to discuss things with Steph but she is so blinkered and anti anything that she doesn't believe in that it is really not worth the effort. Much of what is written is really without foundation and could only really be acceptable to those who have narrow and profound views i.e. Britain, USA and Israel are always bad anybody else is always good as long as they oppose the 3 nations mentioned.

I am in "two minds" whether to even comment on this. Which is more than can be said for Steph, who is an obvious 3-way schizophrenic! After getting almost physically sick reading the regurgitated lefty-loony garbage on the first blog, I was convinced the writer, whilst obviously literate, was an ugly-faced, twisted, brainwashed archetypal terrorist using a picture of an anonymous female super-model in "his" (probably) profile.

Then I read blogs two and three, and became thoroughly confused. Persona #2 conjures up a first class honours law student well on the way to becoming a high court judge, while persona #3 is that of a foul-mouthed chav boring us witless with her day to day ramblings.

Extraordinary, but not worth a second visit I fear!! :crazy:

Just be careful where you're emigrating - New Zealand (and her alike "common" "weath" paradises) are much more egalitarian than Great Britain and there your taxes will firstly go to the long suffering natives, then the underprivilaged islanders from all of the Pacific, then the poor and lazy within the country, and finally the poor of the rest of the world - so you will have to produce trice as much taxes. I love the term "coping classes" and intend to use it from now on as it so much better describes the class to which I, and I assume you, and probably most of the bloggers here, belong.

We pay our taxes, provide for our own and our families needs, ask for very little from the state, show respect for other people and their property, and generally try to make ouir own small contribution to society.

Sadly, we are laughed at and scorned by what I see as, to coin a phrase, the "malevolent and destructive classes" whose soul purpose in life seems to be to bring the whole of society down to their own pathetic level.

It is a measure of the insidious power and success of this underclass, that our useless polititions pander to their every whim!!

I liked the Islamist for 3 reasons:

I lived in Tower Hamlets for 12 years and know that his facts are true in that I worked in Newham College and remeber the Islamisation and I remeber the terrible problems at Tower Halmets college for the same reason adn how the muslim girls were forced to cover up by threats

It gives us a good isight into why things are happening

It is well written and in the end uplifting i.e. fanatics can change and become open minded

Kostova i thought since it seemed right up my ally i would give it a go, spite being branded as well researched...it was cliche and a waste of my time...im sooo dissapointed i want to beg you not to read it and since i saw the word book...i thought i would use the opportunity. by the way the islamist is quite intresting.
